It's been a while since my last post, but I've been really busy. Lots of things to do and to think of... Anyway, here I am again. And as I promised, today I'll be talking only about Bizarría (the music band I'm in). So, as it will be a special post, and as we are in that time of the year, I decided to consider this mah Christmas special post.
________________________________________________
Bizarría was born in 2008, in Bilbao (Spain). It started as a "non-serious" nameless music project, and the original founder members were Igor (lead vocalist and rhythm guitar), Aitor (backing vocalist and lead guitar) and Beñat (drums), but some of them didn't know well how to play their instruments. The three of them were 18 years old, and they had the idea of starting the project after speaking of it several nights. By the end of that year they decided to let me in (at that time, I was 15 years old) because I knew how to play guitar and bass. So the line-up changed a bit: Igor (just lead vocalist), Aitor (backing vocalist and now rhythm guitar), Beñat (drums) and I (lead guitar). They named me the "musical coordinator" (kind of the counductor).
We started rehearsing in January 2009 in a place where we could play for free, but because of the inexperience of the band, we almost couldn't even play a whole song. By that time, we decided the name of the band. In spanish, "Bizarría" literally means this, but in Spain, this word is always misused to mean "bizarre" or "weird". Anyway, we thought that the CORRECT meaning of "Bizarría" would fit well with our personality. So that's how we decided the name (it was mainly Aitor's idea).
We had some problems with a guy who "worked" in those free locals where we rehearsed, and so, after some months, he kicked us out from there... (nowadays we still consider that man our official enemy). So we had no more places in the city where we could rehearse for free. To make the matters worse, Beñat (the drummer) eventually left the bad due to an argument with Igor and the inactivity of the band. The end of the band was near, but after almost a year of inactivity, we decided to continue our search for a place for rehearsing. In 2010, we found a bassist called Ander (a friend that Aitor met at the university). After that, we also found several deals of sharing rehearsing locals with other bands, but we finally declined them for different reasons.
In March 2011, we finally found an affordable local to rehearse in, and so, after 2 long years, we started rehearsing regularly again, but this time, with a bass player, and with a temporary drummer called Sergio (an experienced drummer, also from Aitor's university) who helped us to "take off" again. He only played with us the first weeks though.
But, by the end of this summer (2012), Aitor finally decided to leave the band, because he was not at his best, and because of his other duties. So the line-up nowadays is: Igor (lead vocalist), Ander (bass) and I (backing vocalist and lead guitar). We rehearse in wednesdays (the original "rehearsal day" back in 2009) if we can, and right now, we are about to find a drummer girl (yes, we've recently decided that the drummer have to be a girl).
We have a lot of songs composed (I write the music, and Igor the lyrics) and we are preparing our first demo called "Silbando tu melodía" (means: whistling your melody). Our genre is very varied, but I could say that we kinda resemble to Marea (a spanish rock band.) We have melodic songs, but also fast and punk songs. We even have some grindcore style joke-songs, and we also like covering anime openings.
So, that is Bizarría. We still have a long road ahead though. And so, the chickens that are coming in, replace the ones who left.
